A lesson I learned early on in business is that no matter what industry you are in, whether you are offering a product or a service or even just the best new idea; you have to be able to sell it - and not just whatever the product is, you have to be able to sell you too! Amie was so right when she said that people buy from people they trust and like first and really it's the product second. That means you have to put a face (and preferably a personality) to the product that you are selling! I think this has never been more true than it is today!
I have been to countless marketing talks on how to sell and appeal to different generations and our current generation celebrates authenticity and realness over cost and ease. They want to know, more than ever, who the person is behind the brand they are supporting. They care about who you are and what you stand for. They will pay MORE money for similar products because they believe in the person they are buying from! I think that can be a hard thing for - especially for someone who may have a penchant for business but prefers to be behind the scenes!
I love the advice of getting as comfortable as you can with being the face of your company - even if it is uncomfortable and maybe even feel silly at times (I’m talking to you reels!) - I assure you, it feels the most ridiculous to you! Taking the opportunity to expose a bit of your personality or values will only endear you more to your potential clients and the more you do it, the more comfortable it feels!
